Chocolate for the Skin

It is common knowledge that dark chocolate, a derivative of the cacao bean, has many health benefits. This powerful plant is packed with antioxidants to help maintain cardiovascular and cognitive health, essential nutrients to keep you strong and beautiful, and it even helps your vision! But did you know that chocolate is also good your skin?!

Reduce signs of aging

Cocoa is full of antioxidants called flavonols that help to keep your skin healthy. They protect from sun damage and other free  radicals (which means no more sun spots), reduce signs of aging (fewer wrinkles), and increase blood flow which helps give your skin a healthy glow.

Smooth Complexion

Regular consumption (and application!) of chocolate can help maintain a problem-free, smooth complexion because of its nourishing properties. When combined with caffeine, chocolate is a lovely detoxifier! Using a coffee bean/cocoa exfoliate to remove dead skin followed by a moisturizer will leave you feeling smooth and fresh.

Firm Skin

The caffeine and theobromine found in cacao help make skin firm and taut. They help break down fats and eliminate excess fluid retention.

Stress Relief

As I’m sure we have all discovered by this point, chocolate is a stress reliever. Using dark chocolate will help reduce stress hormones, which means less collagen breakdown in the skin and fewer wrinkles.

Hair Care

Chocolate boosts circulation, which means it can prevent hair loss by promoting blood flow to the scalp!  Don’t forget, cacao (and most of life’s indulgences) must be used within reason, but when used correctly they can make us happier and healthier than ever!
